Mr. Mohammed Al-Shroogi, Chairman of GCC Board Directors Institute (GCC BDI) and Co-CEO of Investcorp is pleased to announce that the GCC Board Directors Institute (GCC BDI) has reached over a thousand members in December 2017. Sami Ahmed Abdullah Aljamea, Operations Head of National Bank of Bahrain (NBB) is the 1000th member to join the largest and most influential network of board directors and senior business executives in the GCC.

I am thrilled to be the GCC BDI’s 1000th Alumni Member, to join such a prestigious body as GCC BDI and I am quite honored…,” said Mr Aljamea as he received his Membership Certificate.

Aljamea was awarded a Certificate of Recognition during the Foundations of Directorship Workshop held on 20 February at Investcorp House, Manama, Bahrain, where he was one of the participants.

In addition, GCC BDI has also recognized Moayed Almoayed, Board Director of T.A. Almoayed & Sons, as the 1001st member.

GCC BDI was as a non-profit organization in 2017 by a combination of four leading regional corporations: Investcorp, Saudi Aramco, SABIC and Emirates NBD, and by four leading advisory firms: Allen & Overy, Heidrick & Struggles, McKinsey & Company and PricewaterhouseCoopers. It is also supported by all the regional regulatory authorities such as the Central Bank of Bahrain, Emirates Securities and Commodities Authority (ESCA) and the Capital Market Authorities (CMA) of both Saudi Arabia and Oman.

Furthermore, GCC BDI has been the forerunner for promoting Corporate Governance in the region for the past 10 years with a proven track record of program delivery, workshops, board evaluations, promoting professional directorship and raising the level of board effectiveness in the GCC.

Today, GCC BDI has grown exponentially and has hosted over a hundred workshops and events. It is the premier and only Directors Institute in the region to be recognized by the Global Network of Directors Institute (GNDI) and recently the recipient of the 2017 Outstanding Contribution to Corporate Governance GCC Award by Capital Finance International.
