The Conference will bring together senior Central Bankers, Securities’ Regulators, senior GCC Board Directors, and other key stakeholders in the region. As the economies in the Arab region develop in today’s globalized world, they need to adopt international standards of corporate governance and regulation. The Conference will therefore focus on the latest international and regional trends in corporate governance, strengthening the regulatory framework, the changing role of the regulator, understanding enforcement best practices and implementing compliance monitoring, as well as the challenges facing the regulators in the region.

This event is intended to offer an opportunity for Senior Regulators, Bankers, senior Corporate Board Directors and other key stakeholders to engage in in-depth dialogue on how best to strengthen sustainable development governance at all levels.

In day one, the forum will discuss a range of issues of concern to the Arab Capital Markets, regulatory authorities, and all relevant institutions. These issues include conduct risk, structural reform of the banking sector, measuring risk exposures, technology, innovation and complexity and the cost of regulation. It will also discuss the challenges facing the compliance of the new G20/OECD Corporate Governance Principles and the role of the legal and regulatory environment for effective implementation of these new principles, in addition to discussing how to build bridges with the boards from the boards of directions view.

While day two will focus on boards diversity including independent directors, remuneration should or shouldn’t be regulated and Woman’s role in the board, in addition to compliance monitoring pointing the best practices and the lessons learned and a discussion on how to monitor related party transactions (RPT), conflicts of Interest, corporate governance codes the “hard” laws versus the “soft” codes, new trends and best practices.
