GCC BDI to feature at 10th Annual Board Secretary Conference, Dubai

A three-day 10th Annual Board Secretary conference will be taking place in Dubai on May 1-3 2018. The event, organised by Marcus Evans Conferences, aims to equip attendees with essential insights into topics ranging from:

  • The future of board secretaries
  • Corporate governance for a diverse business growth
  • Succession planning the future role
  • Optimising the anti-corruption framework

Jane Valls, GCC BDI Executive Director, will be giving a talk on the Benefits of Board Evaluation at the event and enlightening delegates with her extensive corporate governance experience in the region.

With the current business world facing challenges and risks associated with the dynamic economic environment, the role of the board secretary has never been so important. Across the MENA region, the heightened focus on corporate governance gives board secretaries an opportunity to step up their game in progressing as powerful cornerstones of strong corporate governance, compliance and integrity within the board.

Board secretaries are often pillars of support and sources of advice to influential stakeholders; their value extends beyond mere administrative efficiency. This event will explore the role of the board secretary in detail.

The event will also feature a half-day workshop, focusing on building a synergy between Governance, Risk Management and Compliance (GRC) and highlighting best practices for board secretaries to enhance their people management skills and adaptability within the changing market place.

Other prominent speakers at the event include The General Secretariat of the Executive Council, Government of Dubai, David Venus, International President Institute of Chartered Secretaries & Administrators (ICSA) and Anneliese Reinhold, SVP – Legal & General Counsel, Du, UAE and many more.
